Does it have to be invasive biometric? Why not use one of those smell
devices as I'm sure we all have our own unique smell/odour. If they can
have
a machine which can sniff wine then why not to identify members of your
family :-)

I think this is 100% the way to go. I'm all for biometric or similar
identification in every aspect of life, but this is better, due to the
proximity range ie with a fingerprint ID you have to physically walk to the
machine and press your finger to it. Does anyone know what sort of range
these devices could have (eg, whats the current range of an ibutton?)

(My enthusiasm for this sort of stuff is also to do with the fact that due
to my extended keyboard reliance I have big problems signing my name on
forms and credit card slips.... a pen is like some sort of foreign tool to
me... but I'm just weird!)

The other option which wouldn't involve implanting would be to use smell
detection. I've heard various things about it being quite accurate etc, but
am not sure about the sensor to subject range that it supports. Erm... some
sort of voice print could also be used, but that would involve a query/
response cycle instead of the passive detection of implant or smell.

If its good enough for my cats to have a chip, its good enough for me (!)
