I tend to travel on the Gatwick Express, where they have useful=20
employees (but useless management.)
I mean it about the employees - helpful, polite, DO tell you the=20
truth about when you're likely to arrive and why, and just as pissed=20
off about the poor service as the commuters...
However, since I bought the ticket last wednesday, I had problem=20
trains on:
- thursday morning (arrived on platform 0745, to find that the 0750=20
train was cancelled "due to lack of staff")
- thursday evening (arrived on platform 1835, to find that the 1845=20
train was cancelled "due to the lack of staff")
- friday evening (arrived on platform 1747, got on waiting 1800=20
train, at 1758 the train was withdrawn from service "owing to a
fault=20
on the train")
- monday morning (arrived on platform 0810, to find that the 0820=20
train was delayed more than 15 minutes "due to being stuck behind a=20
late-running stopping service all the way in.)
The significance of 15 minutes is that the Gatwick Express proudly=20
advertises itself as "Gatwick <-> London in 30 minutes", so
15=20
minutes late is a 50% over-run!
Regards,
Mark
