Agreed, the speeds are not guaranteed but neither are the speeds for ADSL
nor standard 56k modems either. £20 a month is half the cost of ADSL and
when there's no call charges (and no tying up of phone lines) then
connection speed becomes less of an issue. If you're used to using a modem
then cablemodems (and to the same extent ADSL) will be a rush ... I'm
hating
using a 56k modem while I wait for NTL to finish recabling my area as the
existing C&W network that they bought isn't up to spec for running
digital
services!

AFAIK you need an ethernet card installed in your PC.
