Hmm... interesting, thanks for that I'll check it out next time i've got
the
case open. I don't "expect" that this is my problem though, as
that server
was completely stable for the first few months, during which time the 20GB
disk was on one of the standard IDE interfaces. Later on. I moved it to the
ATA-66 interface, and my problems started sometime after that. Also, I
recently tried to do a full backup of that server, and without exception it
crashed the machine part-way through (usually after about 12 hours of
backup
had completed!) I attempted that backup about 4 times before giving up.

Curiously, I have a 2nd build of NT4 on that box, which also has the HPT366
drivers installed, which works MUCH more reliably - the above backup worked
to completion 1st time when I ran it under this other build. So I have at
least a suspicion that on this box, some other bit of rogue software is
causing the problem....
