I find, on balance, that I generally tend to prefer to tell them that I'm
not in, 'cos as you say, the alternative is to let them think that you just
can't be arsed to answer the door to them. Plus they still don't

front door would tend to sow the seed of doubt in most people...  I also
tend to think that if the caller is a "chancer" just trying to
"case the
joint", then observing such a sophisticated security system in action

very likely deter 99.99% of them from thinking about doing my place

That's why I put a "normal" doorbell button in the
"normal" place, wired
back to a Comfort input, with the doorbell response assigned to it, so for
all intents and purposes, it is exactly the same as pressing the button on
the doorstation. This was one thing that SWMBO insisted upon..
