Thanks for this; I guess that is the obvious place to look.
In my defence, I did look at this menu, but for some reason only noticed
the
'background music level' option. I completely missed the audio level.
I will have a go tonight.

Go to Services > System Settings > Audio Settings > Audio Level.
On my Pace digibox, I find that you have to be careful as this can
cause distortion quite quickly: there isn't much between the right
level and getting all "clippy"
