There's a tiny wrinkle that I forgot to mention
;-)
Having
said that.......
Port
80 isn't blocked. Neither is port 21.
If you
try http://wormpurple.dns2go.com
(i.e. without the www.), you get to an "Under Construction" web site that
is
running on the same server - but this one is port 80.
I
set
up the port 8080 mapping because I _thought_ that port 80 was blocked, but
it
ain't!
I've
also got HomeSeer on port 8088 (I hope the guest access works properly now
I've
said that!) - this is on a different server.
BT are
also supposed to be offering static IP soon. There was supposed to be an
announcement last week - go figure!
FWIW - the web site on port 8080 (www.) is an early iteration
of my
new web site. It's static HTML but generated using a proggie of
mine using
XML and XSL. For instance, I can add an entry about a new X10 module into
my
XML, say, and when I rerun the generator, I get a new page complete with
piccie
and text, a new menu item and a new entry in the site map. Which is nice.
Hopefully, it'll see the real light of day soon (I've been working on it
for 14
months now).
Cheers,
Steve
