Hi Phil,

Current status of KAT5 is this.....

I have 50 professionally manufacured PCB's ready to build 25 sets of KAT5
AVS Links.

The AVS is S-Video and Stereo Audio which can also be used for composite
video.

I was initially going to release a Composite + Stereo + IR version first,
but the cost would have been higher than the S-video version and several
people on this list already have distributed IR control using Nigel's
circuit and now that Ian has PCB's for the IR repeater I suspect more
people will build them.

The reasons I decided to do the s-video version first are that
1. it can also be used as composite anyway.
2. DVD players output S-video so why use an inferior composite link.
3. if distributing TV out from a PC, S-Video makes one hell of a
difference.

Building the boards has taken longer than expected due to the family having
the flu and me being away on a Java course all this week. I should now have
more time to get them built.

More details soon

Keith

Thus speaks the electronics guru...

...thanks Keith.

Keith, what's the state of play with the KAT5 project? I'm doing an install
for a friend this weekend which your composite + stereo audio + IR boards
would be *PERFECT* for and I've told him that you're working on them but I
was wondering if you had any plans as to when they were going to be
available?

Phil
