Yeah, I followed the thread originally last time it was running
(November-ish ISTR), so I'm familiar with the device and its functionality,
but as I didn't think I wanted one at the time, I didn't pay >too<
much
attention to it.
I'm sure I could manage a kit of parts and solder it all together myself,
Just a little concerned about component identification though, as I
definately recall several posts from people who'd got the transistors the
wrong way round and so on... (I seem to recall a lot of helpfull posts from
Nigel at the time, helping people to troubleshoot their circuits). - I tend
to lose patience pretty quickly if things dont work straight away...
Just >exactly< how simple is it to put together - I can solder OK,
but I'm
not sure I could tell the Anode from the Cathode on a diode, or the base
from the emitter on a transistor, nor can I read the resistor colour-code
from memory, and so on....
For me to have any chance if it all working 1st time I put it together, it
would need to have some pretty mickey-mouse instructions (like numbered
components, a-la "painting by numbers" style), and orientation
instructions
to avoid the abovementioned transistor cock-ups.
Also, what about power supply for them? - 12V? 5V? - anything in-between?
(I
have 12V availablie in the PIR, perhaps I could use that?)
