Hmm a dozen a day.... how about over 350 so far today (and we were out at
the time)

When you first see the logs it looks horrible, but a lot of the 'scans' are
actually legitimate connections from web-sites you have visited etc. The
majority tend to be kids who think they are far cleverer than they really
are. I tend to get scanned a dozen times a day on average. If you do want
to
know more about internet security  there is a private news server run by
Steve Gibson at news.grc.com which discusses all aspects of it. Zonealarm
Pro is widely regarded as the best 'personal' firewall.
