Has anybody seen the spec for the new ATI All-in-Wonder RADEON card, and
thought about using this instead of a "proper" Tivo box?

It retails for between £180-£220 (depending on where you shop!)

Apart from sounding like a new whizzo washing powder, it includes all the
usual All-in-Wonder features, EG TV tuner on-board, Video-in, Video-out,
MPEG decoder etc. etc. It also has (IIRC) 32MB of DDR SDRAM, but more
importantly, includes Tivo-like software, enabling it to be used in just
the
same way as a Tivo, IE: Pause Live TV, Instant replay, record to HDD etc,
and probably best-of all includes a subscription-free TV guide service...

The full specs are here:
http://www.ati.com/uk/pages/products/pc/aiw_radeon/index.html

If this were used as the heart of a custom DIY Tivo solution, then provided
it was well executed, it strikes me it has the potential to be better than
a
"real" Tivo, for less money. - And you can expand the disk
capacity as much
as you like....

Thoughts?
