IMO, on “high” quality (which is fine for 99% of stuff) the quality is superior to VHS, think almost on a par with S-VHS and you’re about the right level. On “best” it’s even better but it does eat drive space at this level and for most it is not needed, “medium” is only good for things like soaps IMO where there is not a lot of action shots anything below that is pretty much useless to me at least, I just will not accept the space/quality trade off below this.

My SS machine does only one thing…SS

 

It’s also in the study, piped to AV Room and Bedroom via KAT5 so fan noise is not an issue.

VOLUME!

The TIVO is pretty quiet ... Certainly quieter than a PC with fans etc.

Personally I do like devices with one function and one function only ...
A PC with Showshifter goes against my usual way of doing things.
