I use “Medium” Quality for most stuff.  I did record Reservoir Dogs in “High” quality a week or two ago.  This is 640 x 480, Stereo 44K 16bit.  The 2 hour movie came out at just under 10gig!  But I’m just using the supplied MJPEG codec which gives large files, but it’s decent quality and easy on the CPU.

 

The latest version of SS now supports audio compression which will further reduce file size.  I have tried DiVx codec but find AV sync problems.

What quality of recording, can you get to SVHS level?
