Title: Message
Problem is that a TIVO will fit into my existing AV setup without needing a keyboard or mouse to boot up after a power cut, without looking like a PC, without sounding like a PC and - for £199 - can you build a PC meaty enough to run showshifter anyway?

The U.I. on TIVO is cracking too!

My SS setup is very stable.  Dedicated PC.  Here’s a screen shot I took a good while back for the review (it’s on the list) showing some of the stuff I use it for…

It is missing the some of the finer features of TiVo – like the record all season and thumbs up/down – but a 4.99 a year for Digiguide instead of 10.00 a _month_ for TiVo I can live without it.

Now if Sky Plus was 199 quid I would be seriously tempted.

I would say stability
It just works all the time
The only time mine doesn't record is if the IR to the Sky box goes wrong
And that would happen with any system until sky let us control the box with
the serial port
Showshifter seems pretty basic as well when it comes to control/selection
I've just put together another system using the Matrox450etv card
A good toy but I can never see the system being as seamless as the TiVo is
My 2d worth
Mike

As you say inexcusable.

Is there any benefit in getting TIVO over a decent PC and Showshifter?
