Being another TiVo owner for over a year I would agree, stability is the
major reason. Yet another is that it is far less complex than a PC
solution so SWMBO can use it very easily, in fact a five year old could
use TiVo with little or no training. You also get big Brownie Points
when TiVo gets the soaps or whatever SWMBO is into when you didn't even
ask it too ;-)

TiVo has its flaws but you can live with them given the functionality of
the machine and the benefits of it. My biggest problem is the fact that
it misses the end of some BBC stuff in particular due to the Beeb's
terrible timekeeping...not TiVo's! This problem and a couple of others
are expected to be addressed in the latest software release due in March
