By way of an exercise, I thought I'd have a go at writing a Remote Serial
Port device driver - initially for Windows 2000/XP but potentially 98/ME
using the Windows Driver Model.

The idea is that you install a virtual device driver on your machine that
appears as a regular COM port but the physical port is located on another
machine on the network. A corresponding server component will provide the
other end of the 'software serial cable'. This would allow, for example,
HomeSeer to use a CM12 that was physically attached to another PC.

Has anybody got any experience with writing such device drivers? Any useful
info to share?

Cheers,
Steve
