Title: Message

Now I know who I’m going to get to program my Omni II – 4 or 5 underfloor heating zones – digital temperature sensors and an outside temperature sensor – all controlled by a burgular alarm J

www.qvsdirect.co.uk do something called a TLX Digital Room Stat which is a wall mounted digital thermostat which is settable from the front panel. It has just a set of relay contacts as an outut but I was thinking of using these in each room to allow individual adjustment of temperature.

These types are OK for just setting a temperature in a particular zone or room - once it's reached they switch.  What they don't allow is the ability to have 15C overnight, 20C in the morning, 18C during the day and say 21C in the evening (unless you want to keep pressing buttons at the appropriate time).  Of course, you'd need some way of controlling the radiator flow in each room to do that.

With something like a DS1820 (or whatever code it actually is) you can actually read the temperature.  With an external sensor and some clever software programming, you can start to look at some form of optimisation.  There is one (amongst others probably) that will do this already at http://www.dcd.co.uk but they are over 300 quid a piece, and with umpteen zones it gets a tad expensive.
