No, the best place is in the corner looking into the room, not out of a
window, and not above a radiator. When you walk into the room or come
through the window the detector will be most sensitive when you cross it at
90 deg not when walking towards it. If you put it above the window you will
have air currents moving in front of it so making it unstable. The 360 deg
ones would normally go in the middle, you can put them towards a corner but
if so mask off the lens near the wall.
