I suspect the person in question has a virus.  The virus is taking the
from:
header and mailing directly to that address.  I've seen it cause havoc on
another list just like this.  Every mail that comes into the sender's inbox
will be responded to with a virus.

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.  Send him an E-Mail warning him he
has a virus.
