X10 PC interface Problems

Title: X10 PC interface Problems

A totally on topic post from me for a change.

My CM12 (Badged as a CM11A I think?) seems to have died.  I thought it was the PC as it has generally gone titsup.com and needs a fresh rebuild when time permits (read after wedding), so for now, and to get my macros working for an unattended house for a few days, to include the outside Christmas decorations I changed the unit over to the other PC.

Downloaded Homeseer trial as I'm fed up with the free bit of software that came with the kit(won't run on the spare PC) and..... nothing.  Cannot establish communications with CM11?  I've tried all the usual things, taking batteries out and leaving it unplugged overnight to reset it.

What else have folks done,  don't have a spare cable to try.

Anyone over this part of the world got a spare I could try to see if I can get the problem resolved, or anyone else got a spare homebase bargain they aren't using and are prepared to part with for a price.  Don't really want to spend £60 + postage to get one?

Thanks,

Steve
