<VERY deep sigh> I so hate these stupid and pointless rules that
can't be applied rigidly in all cases. A full sized bike, fair enough. A
binbag is a wonderful reminder of how pointless it is in the other
cases.

I once went into a nightclub (some twelve years ago now) in my
socks with my trainers hidden under my jacket. "No trainers,
mate".

Take delivery of an item as another example. How difficult is it to
have the driver, who must already have your details in front of him,
call up 30mins in advance of being with you, so you can drive home
and let him in? I spent a good 10mins arguing this with a sales
supervisor woman in John Lewis once. I was having fun, she gave
in; driver quite happy to give me a call; worked out perfectly for us
all.
