For pure voice traffic, they're not.

If, however, you want to run a modem over them (again - you don't think
you want to now, but in 6 months time...) then you'll find that the
analogue lines on an ISDN installation reliably give better speed
connections that a pure analogue line.

No idea why - DACS splitters??? - dodgy exchange cards??? - but I've
seen time after time the problem "my modem won't connect" be
solved by
installing ISDN and using the analogue lines on that.
