Be very careful feeding line level signals down speaker cable ... it's
unshielded and you'll pick up induced noise *VERY* easily.

Thanks, but I didn't explain myself well enough - I have speaker cable
that
terminates at a wall plate already - the other end of the cable runs
under
the carpet to the subwoofer location. This end of the cable is bare
wire
and I need it to be a male phono plug. This end just pokes up out of
the
carpet and needs to feed directly into the sub without having to install
a
new wall plate.
Any ideas?

If you're handy with a drill and soldering iron, then for a couple of
quid
you too can build the following:
