I have no experience of the above systems (good start eh!) but have you
thought of using X10 at all?

With X10 you can have many of the same features as the above, at a
drastically reduced cost, and you have the advantage of the X10 protocol

being open and viewable by anyone ... (the others maybe, I don't know)

I'm sure X10 is the most flexible, with so many different controllers
available (Homevision, Homeseer, Misterhouse, Comfort to name just 4)
all of
which give you massive amounts of scope to program the system.

Also, building your own house will let you wire for DIN rail X10
modules,
which is a much neater solution then plug in modules everywhere.
