Ok, now I'm even more confused :-)

To give an example - I have about 6 mains sockets in my sitting room, all
of
which are used by a mixture of appliances (TV, DVD, Amp etc).  I'm
presuming
that standard wiring for a house is that all of those sockets (if not more
in other rooms) will be on one main.  How then do individual DINs at, say,
the fusebox end, "know" which appliance to control?

Or am I missing something fundamental to UK electrical wiring specs?
