I'll
get stoned for saying this but use the coax digital connections as optical
cables don't work if they get "nipped" and if you're only running a couple
of
meters between the DVD player and amp then you can use just an ordinary
phono-phono lead. (I challenge anyone on this group to be reliably able to
tell
the difference between an audio lead and a "digital" cable over a metre or
two.)
Sony's
Sky box supports digital audio out on an optical connector
IIRC...
Phil
Would one of you home cinema buffs be able to tell
me
what sort of cable I need to connect my DVD player to a home cinema
amp.
Both
units are JVC and have both the optical and 'phono' type coaxial
connections
on the back. The amp/controller can be configured to accept either
or,
as far as I know my sky box doesn't support this (I know sky are trialing
some
DD at the moment, but my box only has stereo out 'phono' style sockets that
I
presume wont have the correct encoded bits), it's the pace unit. So
what
would be my best option to use for the DVD player - optical or coax, and
where
night one get the correct cable/s -would I be correct in assuming that an
ordinary unshielded wired one will be 'bad'.
Thanks,
Steve
BTW
anybody over this side of the pond wanting a Psion Wavefinder - PCworld in
Sprucfield have about a dozen left - Thanks,
Michael.
