What problems do you have linking HomeVision to the plasma?

Is it for the TV output

If so you are worrying about nothing

Although the TV control system is interesting it is not a serious contender nowadays for useful control of HV

Use ACE as an interface for HomeVision every time

I keep meaning to try Homeseer I have a registered copy from ages ago

But every time I think about trying it this appalling genie appears on my screen and I give up

I must say though that everyone who uses it raves about it

Mike

Please I know a lot of people use the TV control for HomeVision, but I'm sure only carried over from their original setup, I'm only talking of new installs here

Subject: [ukha_d] Do I really need CAT5?

I got into a friendly (well I think it was friendly!) debate with Mark on Messenger last night regarding CAT5 in my new home.

I don't think I need it, he thinks I should put it in anyway.

Bearing in mind the long dimension is likely to be 10-15 metres and on a single floor.

I use wireless LAN for networking

I've got a cordless PBX

I'm going to buy a new Marantz RC5200 with RF-IR module

I've got no need for whole house audio

I'm going to install shed loads of LD-11s plus Touchlincs and Homeseer (I may buy a Homevision, but due to problems linking it into my plasma I'll only do it if Homeseer isn't up to the job) for lighting and curtain control.

Can anyone think of good pratical uses for CAT5 in my particular case?

Two on topic posts in two days - that must be a record.

Tim.
