I had a seagate hard drive fail on me yesterday, which was a pain, but
these
things happen...

This morning I phoned seagate to get warranty on the hard drive, as it was
less than 2 years old.

On OEM drives, ie the ones you buy from scan, ebuyer, dabs, etc they don't
provide any warranty through Seagate you have to go to who you bought it
off, bit of a pain, but what the hell.

So I told them that the place I bought it off went bust, so she asked for
the serial number and model number of the drive, then tells me that the
drive only has a one year warranty as it was an OEM drive.

Remind me never ever to buy anything from Seagate again!!

Any time I have had a Maxtor hard drive fail, I go straight to maxtor who
do
advanced replacements, now thats a company I will be doing business with
again!
