RE: Controllers for Dallas 1-wire network

Andrew,

I dont think Java is a particularly hard language to pick up if youve
played
with OO programming before and then even if you havent to do the stuff you
want to do I think youll find it straightforward. Take a look at the free
book on the website which gives you lots of details on how to use the
functions on the TINI. You might find it even easier to use the ethernet
port and access your 1-wire that way. I wrote a simple server program
which
you can telnet to on my TINI board and enumerates the 1-wire for devices.
Its probablt not more than 80 lines of code so its pretty simple to do a
lot
of useful stuff.

There are a few TINI people on this list and Im sure any of us would be
happy to help.

If you do order a TINI dont expect them to deliver in a short time. Dallas
Semiconductors are notorious for terrible lead times.

thanks
kieran

Kieran

Looks just the job, but presumably I'd have to learn Java?

Not impossible (might even be career enhancing), but I'd ideally like to
pick up a pre-written application. Have you seen any?

Best regards

Andrew

Wouldnt a TINI board suit your needs? http://www.ibutton.com/TINI

Use the TINI board as a 1-wire bus master and use its serial port
functionality to send signals to your PC.

Thanks
kieran
