For what its worth I have the toolchain built so I can recompile the ddar
kernel and associated tools.  However(!) I havent even switched mine on
since I got it last wednesday due to moving flats etc.  So if I can get
myself sorted and actually plug the thing in then I might start fiddling
around.   For those of you talking about setting up a remote control of the
device from your PC the web server runs on the PC on port 81 to which the
receiver connects to.  Im not sure how useful this would be given the
receiver initiates the request.

I was thinking it would be interesting (if possible) to compile up a simple
inetd and shell for the device so you can connect to the machine and
control
it.  Alternatively a tiny web server local to the box might also be a
possibility.  In all these cases the player software is closed source
whereas the kernel (linux) is open source.  Creating a working remote
control app for this device is probably a: a lot of work and b: likely to
lose you some functionality as well.  As Mr Harrison sez maybe we should
just keep it as a consumer electrical device ;-)
