They're not bad, pretty clear step by step instructions. I'm sure
Andrew will let you see before you buy (they are available on line in
a password protected area of the comfort website)

Yes, very easy. There are no "gotchas". Programming is a bit
idiosyncratic - buy the UCM serial interface and download CSX express
if you can. It's also worth connecting the X10 interface (if you're
going to use one) up on the initial install - just because it means
fiddling with mains wiring to retrofit it.

You did use a screened cable for the keypad, didn't you?

No doorphone will cause no problems at all. You have to reconfigure
the system for no doorphone - or you will get a comms failure report.
This is easy to do.

I'd do the install, but without the sounder/external bell connected
until you're happy with it. IMO there isn't much to be gained by
setting it up on the bench first.

There is a comfort list on egroups too, btw.
