Thought that might be the case

You don't happen to know the part #
I've opened it up but there is nothing written on the Triac
I'll tr and source some fuse holders and fuses at the same time

The triac will be short circuit. Replacing that will restore proper
operation.

The problem is the fuses dont blow quick enought to protect the triac.

You need a hispeed ceramic fuse to protect the triac properly.
Unfortunately
these are 20mm fuses which will not fit the fuseholder on the LD11. You
could fit one in an external holder in series with the output of the LD11.
That should give greater protection.
