Hi All

This is the first time I have posted to the list so please bear with me. I currently run the Misterhouse software with a combination of weeder analogue and digital boards for all my alarm, temperature and central heating control. I also have some of my own RF controlled modules for switching certain lights and appliances. The unit runs on a Compaq server with win2k, another machine also provides a 24/7 live video and audio feed that I can monitor for security over the net via a BT Highway. (While I mention this as anyone here received an email from BT about there "anytime" package saying that there usage is basically to high and un-attended operation is not allowed ?)

I am in the process of buying a house that is just being built, It will be ready in March next year. I need to submit the details of the changes to the wiring I require in the next few weeks. I have already got quite a way but seeing as I can not change it later A post to the group seemed like a good idea ! When I move I will also be installing X10 light switches through out the house. So far here are some of the idea's, please tell me if they are good or if any of you would change them for what ever reason:

All light switches to have a neutral wire available. To allow for automatic switching of a non filament type light.

Any light fitting that is to have a fan is to have a second Live feed wired directly back to node 0. This means the light side can be controlled as a normal light and be dimmed and the fan can be switched from any remote via the HA system.

All light switches to be single gang. To allow an x10 switch to be fitted.

All rooms to have at least one network and telephone point on CAT5e. (yes I saw similar questions a few days ago so two or three extra CAT5e to go in !)

Most rooms to have a TV point wired with CT100.

The main TV point to have three feeds, One TV aerial in, One sat/cable in and the third distribution out.

All rooms to have PIR's these are wired to node 0 and will connect to an alarm system and the HA system for movement detection for the lights etc.

Speaker cable to each room for HA announcements and background music. Help here, what cable to run, normal amp etc or 100V line amp. How to control each room volume ? I do not want a volume control in each room. If all else fails one day when I get time (what a laugh !)  I'll code a PIC up and use that via a remote etc.

If I wire for a whole house infra red system where is the best place for the emitter receiver in each room. What is the best way of doing this ?

Now the x10 question, can I yet purchase a device that will receive all x10 rf housecodes and relay them all on to the mains. I think I am going to need at least 4 house codes. With the house layout I would need two devices per code, and that's too many devices.

I think that it for now ! So sorry for the very long post, but thought you would need the info if you could help. Thanks in advance and what I great group. I couple of you may know me from the Misterhouse list, I seem to have seen a few familiar names over the past couple of days.

Ian
