Mine has a button for wide or normal mode as you describe. It does nothing
unless the program is transmitted in wide screen. I can tell this from the
info button. Generally pretty crap though. Oddly enough my IDTV is much
better and I get 1 to 4 and choice, knowledge etc. in wide screen 90% of
the
time.

Breakup of the picture is annoying but compared to some pretty good.
Apparently it gets worse when you start receiving anything other than the
free channels. So, take out the Ondodgy card and you won't then be tempted
to watch it - problem solved.
