I'm hoping someone can offer some ideas here.

I've got a hole in the wall in the loft ~213cm from the from of the house.
I
have anotherhole in the livingroom wall also ~213cm from the front wall of
the house. I also have a peice of bright green string with a weight (a
chain)
on the other end.

The problem is the two holes dont line up, and I'm struggling to get the
string hooked so I can pull it through the hole. A coathanger won't fit
through the hole (not with a hook bent on the end). I've also tried putting
a
steel tape measure through the hole and expanding that in the cavity to try
and catch the string.

I think the steel tape measure idea is the best, but does anyone else have
any ideas? The two holes are about 1/8 inch wide.
