ADSL / USB

What I want is NTL broadband, as this comes with ethernet
connectivity, but its not available.

So I'm considering ADSL...however the home version is USB...
This is a pain as USB is a limited distance and I cannot use existing
cat5 cabling.

The question for anyone with ADSL+USB... How does the USB ADSL
adaptor connect to the wall?
How long can this cable (BT socket to ADSL adaptor) be?
How have people got round this problem?

Or can I get an ethernet ADSL adaptor and put this in instead of USB
one after BT have done their stuff?

Martin
