Hi Phil,

You could also have looked at

T568A and T568B are ELECTRICALLY the same in that the pin connections
are identical, the only difference is the Orange and Green pair
colours are transposed. Any equipment (including KAT5) will happily
work on either A or B wiring.

Problems arise when, as you have discovered, you have patch panels
and sockets that are marked with opposing colour schemes. If you just
follow the Pin Numbering it will work fine.
