But note that there are also discrimination rules to take into account.
It's pretty complex and you need to consider the types of MCBs being used
as well as cable sizes and resistances, but a rough rule of thumb is
never to have a "slave" MCB more than half the rating of a
"master" MCB.
I have a setup like this for a garage CU - the MCB in the main CU is
32A, I have cabled with 10mm cable, the incoming fuse on the garage CU is
60A, and the largest MCB in the garage CU is 16A.

The rule is there so that if there is a fault that the slave MCB trips
and it shouldn't trip to master. This "discrimination" is to
prevent
nuisance tripping of master MCBs that can't be tracked down.
