Re: 802.11 wireless question



I seem to recall an article suggesting that the good thing about the
american 802.11b kit was that it could be *adjusted* to give higher range..

It was a puff piece about the BUffalo gear I think, I'll see if I can find
a
reference again.

As to fear of use in public places, I am only considering using Wireless
Lan
gear where the AP is plugged into an X-10 Module, and I would want some
assurance that the W-Lan Nics don't do anything like Wake-On-Lan, or any
sort of beaconing when the machine is "off"

At this point in time, I would be considering a Mobile-Phone mast style
Cancer scare from 802.11b and Bluetooth within ten years to be a prettty
safe bet.
