I'm planning to do exactly the same, - I plan (hope) to use RJ45 sockets in
the project box, so I would be able to use bog standard CAT5 cables to plug
the DS1820's in to any CAT5 outlet in the house..
I've tried to source nice panel-mount RJ45 sockets, but not met with much
success, - I've had an offer of some of the modular sockets that would
normally snap into a faceplate, but I think these would be quite a bit
larger than I really want. - Currently I'm considering de-soldering some
from some old NIC's I've got lying around and fixing them into a box with
hot-glue or something...
Just a couple of ideas to mull over....
