Title: Re: [ukha_d] Fw: Starspeeder
update
Plus - you still can't have a 24/7 connection because of this &
hence you couldn't run a home web server say as there is no 'back' channel
in place. Most isps have a timed drop on their service and cease your
account if connected for excessive time.
The feedback forums indicate good speeds for file
downloads but general web browsing is expected to be perceived as much
slower than say an ISDN channel due to the latency (>300ms ping times).
In practice people are saying that their web browsing speed is enhanced
too, due to faster page content downloads though. No good for heavilly
interactive (bi-directional use eg games though.
The Hauppauge hardware DBS solution seems to have tech
problems at the moment.
If you download a lot of large files it seems a good
solution.

From looking at their site you still have to keep your

Yes, EON service has been less than good from what I read. The Star
Speeder
site gos to lengths to try and distance itself from exactly the kind of
problems EON has had.
I think a mate that lives close by is about to order it. Will let you
know
what it's like if he does.
