I'll second that, Plasmas are *generally* horrible, unless you like your
blacks dark grey and horrible banding across colour fades.

Panasonic have done something quite clever with their 42" panel which
reduces discharge voltage (or something) so blacks do actually look black
(in fact for Phil, until I increased the brightness control a few notches
some of the blacks were too black). The Panasonic also displays 1024 shades
of grey rather than the 512 that most do.

I'm not saying that these panels won't be good, they may have come up with
their own way of doing the same thing, but bear in mind that when speaking
to the Panasonic help line last week, they told me that their 50"
panel, due
on the 1st June doesn't have the same picture quality as the 42" one.
