Title: Re: [ukha_d] Homevision Question On Weather Data
Do you have Ace ?

If so I wrote a script (actually I updated an existing one that someone else had written) that takes the data off the BBC weather site either nationally , regionally or locally and puts the various fields into variables. These can be passed to HV as required. Covers today , tomorrow and next 5 days.  Dan has a copy of this script on the website I think, but not perhaps the most recent.
The problem is that every time the BBC change the format of the weather web pages it messes up the data retrieval. Basically ACE parses the raw html content that is returned from the page and looks for certain keywords to pull out the data eg "max temp" the routine is not very clever & gets broken quite easily eg "Max Temp". It could be made more foolproof at the expense of complexity and space.
However take a look at the code - it is a great way of pulling data off web pages and into HV or whatever.
I can dig a copy of the last version out if you want though I seem to remember it was not working properly again - some new web designer at the BBC no doubt making the page look nicer.

Guys,

Has anyone found a way to get weather data from the net into HV in any way.
Excuse me but I'm just starting to play around with some of the more
advanced features of HV like this kinda stuff.
