Title: Re: [ukha_d] Wiring idea
Graham,
Have you duplicated (extended) the 2 Cat5 connectors on
your ISDN2 BT box ? - you could of course use them directly & save two
if it is situated in an accessible place.
Plus I suspect you don't really need two outlets - each
connector has both A+B channels in it so that will save you one. You could
divide them with a splitter if you need to have two different pieces of kit
online at once on each channel. A 128K TA will pick up both lines on one
cable. Have you use one of the special 'terminted' sockets - usually blue
in faceplate colour ? Effectively your sockets are all in parallel so if
you have a separate cable to each one would become spare. ie You only need
one cable from the BT box to your outlets - the other socket is
identical.

I agree with Keith,
I have put 2 x CT100 to both front and back of the lounge and to many
other
rooms. At the AV centre I have 4 x CT100 and in the office (also happens
to
be node 0) I have 4 x CT100 so that I can feed TV/FM to whichever
computer
is being used. Pulling CT100 is by far the nastiest of all cable pulling
I
have done (I guess mains twin and earth would be pretty unpleasant) but
remember you should only be doing this once, so do it right, separate
cable
for every outlet!
Whilst on the subject, I have already run out of CAT5 ports in the
sitting
room. I have six there but am using one for home phone, one for
business
phone, one for LAN, one for each of the ISDN B Channels (the BT box is
here
but the router and TA are two floors up) and one for a serial
connection
from the laptop (acts as answer machines) to the TA. This now means that
I
can not have a KAT5 unit in the sitting room or an alarm sensor connected
to
Comfort.
It really is not an option to run anymore cable, though I could
sacrifice
two of the four CAT5 going through the wall of the sitting room into
the
garage. However this would reduce future opportunities for garden
automation! The only other alternative (other than sharing a cable
between
two applications) is to relocate the BT ISDN box to node zero. Is this
something I could do myself or would I have to contact BT to do it?
