Title: Re: [ukha_d] Urgent question on AW10's
Have to agree with Kevin here.

Just because you have a trip DOES NOT MEAN IT IS SAFE.

A couple of weeks ago I was fitting a socket to a cable I had disconnected earlier. Stupidly I forgot to check that the supply was still off. Some interfering B****** had turned the breaker back on.

ALWAYS CHECK THE POWER IS OFF. It is dangerous to become complacent

I stripped the live wire with no problem and was stripping the neutral when the back of my hand touched the live wire. The jolt I received had my heart beating like a good un for several minutes.

MORE IMPORTANTLY......THE POWER DID NOT TRIP.
I was sitting on a piece of cardboard on a dry wooden floor. The shock I received was directly across Live and Neutral therefore there was no leakage to earth so the trip has no reason to pop. Had I ONLY touched the Live wire the trip should have cut off the power with little or no effect to me.

Thankfully this time I was OK. It's not the first time I have had a belt and it probably wont be the last but its not something to be recommended.

I must really say that I am gob smacked here - Mains IS a problem and it is lethal. Treat it with the utmost respect. There is an inference from this post you can experiment with live mains if you have an RCB all will be well - and that if you dont you'll just blow a fuse. This is NOT true and I don't think Kenneth meant it to sound that way
