I have seen these for the last 3 or 4 years at PLASA at Earls Court.

They are SERIOUSLY bright. They had a panel 1metre square and it was painful to look at close up. Where it was located, it was about 3 metres from the opposite wall. The wall was brightly lit by the LEDs and standing between the display and the wall would cast a shadow.

These are intended for shopping centres, nightclubs etc. At 6mm, the dot pitch is far to course to be used in a house. You would need to be an absolute minimum of 15-20 feet (if not further) away to allow the pixels to merge into a seemless picture.

Also each module, whilst being almost 1m x 0.5m is ONLY 160x80 pixels. To build a VGA resolution screen would need 4x6 modules. Each module takes a maximum of 330W when fully lit (plain white) so total power consumption would be 24x330 = 7.92kW = 33amps !!!!

Not a serious contended for Home Cinema yet.........unless youve just bought the local fleapit after the new UCI Multiplex caused it to close down.
