Title: Re: [ukha_d] VGA monitor/keyboard switch
Patrick,

You might want also to consider a USB model as well nowadays (eg Belkin ) as there is one less cable, which tends to work out a little cheaper , & it's multi platform. Depends on if your PC's have USB ports though.

Very few boxes come off the shelf with cables due to the variety of mouse & keyboard connector permutations.

The very cheap switches ( usually just multiway switches in a cream metallic box ) are not very good in that they have no 'intelligence'. I'm not meaning the scanning and selection intelligence but keyboards and mice don't like being just cut off and reconnected to PC's - actually it's the PC's that winge. They tend to lock up or go into endless beeping loops So I would recommend that you get a proper KVM.

I did know of a surplus supplier"The Computer Junk Shop" who had some Belkin units, they were an exhibitor at a fair I went to, They don't currently have any but are ringing me back with a number of someone who might. I'll  let you know.

I'm after a 4 port VGA monitor/keyboard switch - so that I can share
one keyboard and monitor between 4 PC's at node 0. Any
recommendations for a suitable surplus supplier - the usual places
are astronomically expensive.
