If you missed the ePods & are looking for something similar then there
is a discussion thread on the iAppliance BBS at the moment re Panasonic
ToughBooks. Some have become available at $345 , original cost $3000+
(apparently). Some product data is available here :

http://home.ptd.net/~busdepot/

Basically the unit is smaller than an ePod but thicker, weighs about the
same. 640x480 65K 7.8" colour touchscreen, 24MB Ram, 1.6GB HD and
133Mhz 586
processor. Runs Win95 as supplied , upgradeable to 98. Battery Life is only
2 hours though. Ports are 1S 2PCMCIA mouse kbd ir (no USB). Docks into unit
(supplied) that provides extra 1S 1P VGA Floppy & another kbd/mouse.
Looks
interesting in that it is not CE based so many more apps can run on it.

The thread on IAppliance is here :

http://www.kenseglerdesigns.com/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl?Action=Show
Post&Board=EpodsOne&Post=1102&Idle=0&Sort=0&Order=Descend&Page=0&Session=

If that doesn't work then it is a top thread entitled
Epods alternative: Panasonic ToughBook CF-01 in the ePods section
(http://www.kenseglerdesigns.com/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl)

I know some units are currently available - if anyone want's to piggy back
on my order and split freight & duty then let me know. You need to read
the
long post by Busdepot towards the end of the thred re supply.
