Has anyone tried the Windows Media Encoder v7?
>From what I have seen so far, the CPU usage for real-time compression
is
much lower than MPeg or DivX using say VirtualDub, the file size seems
pretty good and quality is the best I've managed to produce so far on my
machine.

Just tried build 1.00.312 of Show Shifter (www.showshifter.com) and found
it
to be much more stable than the previous versions. Just used it to record
"Top Gear" and it worked faultlessly.
The new version 4.1 of DigiGuide (www.digiguide.com) now integrates with
Show Shifter so you can simply click on a program and send the recording
details directly to it.
