If you're after 1U PCs, Digital Networks (http://www.dnuk.com) amongst
others sell them in the UK. I think xinit might do them as well. Dell
have just started doing them in the US, but the Dell ones are optimised
for web serving.

A couple of points about them for home automation use:

- They're very deep - you can't stack everything like you can in a
normal case, so all the components have to be placed side by side. I
think mine are about 600mm deep.

- You can only fit one PCI card - there is an adaptor in one of the
motherboard PCI slots to turn it through 90 degrees, so the card is
parallel with the motherboard. However, they've got video, ethernet,
sound on the motherboard.

- Adding extra disk space could be tricky - there's not a lot of room
left...

Otherwise, they're great. I use several as web servers.

Cheers,

Colin.

P.S. - not affiliated with Digital Networks, just a customer.
